I am on record as saying that the “trailer trailer” didn’t bode well however I am happy to report that the actual trailer is better.

That being said on a scale of “multiple IMAX viewings” to “skip it” my assesment has been upgraded only from “free redbox” to “paid redbox”.

It will have its moments, it will be worth seeing, but I don’t imagine spending theater money to see it.

Things that bug me:

“its not a squeal, its a reboot” !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ...so...the trailer starts off by telling us what happened 30 years ago in New York... what?!

Token loud urban black person™ - opportunity wasted and replaced with tired stereotypes...sigh.

Ecto-1. This one is minor but someone who respects the source material should know better than to just “blues brothers 2000" the props like that. If they had even left out the “1” it would have been better. if you want to “make the story their own” you can’t just rehash a main prop and be all “remember this?! yeah you remember...but its a new story!” Also there is slimmer, cause this is a new story!

Things I like:

The Ghosts look great

Kate McKinnon looks to be killing it

Kristin Wig looks like she also might be okay.

I know part of me is just holding it to a high standard...rose colored glasses and all that but, well, yeah; When you reboot a classic I think people have the right to have high standards.

My 2 cents.

I had the exact same feeling after seeing this trailer. I went from “they’re sullying the original’s reputation with this garbage” to “ok, this may not be as bad as I feared”. I definitely won’t pay theater money to see it, but I’ll rent it.

“its not a squeal, its a reboot” says the director ...so...the trailer starts off by telling us what happened 30 years ago in New York... what?!

I thought/hoped for a second that might’ve been a ruse and the old cast would show up. I always thought they could have done it where the original group just opened up other shops across the country.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by it. They better make a music video is all.

My only take from this is...really? Must EVERY reboot of an old song must be some shitty dubstep remix?

I mean, I like dubstep, but come on...it’s not original at all.

My process was not positive: “Ok, the original was a classic, and Melissa Mcarthy is a war crime, but MAAAAYBE they can do something halfway decent, so I won’t judge till I can watch- oh, there’s a trailer... oh.Yep. That’s what I expected.”

“it’s not original at all”

Every reboot ever. The music is just a reflection of the fact that what your getting is reheated leftovers.

The ghosts do look good. That’s pretty much all I’ve got though.

I still don’t like the cast (Melissa McCarthy just bugs the shit out of me), and it appears to be trying way too hard for laughs.

As for Ecto-1, this still bugs me. I get why they couldn’t get another 59 Cadillac. Why not something like a conversion van or something? Imagine an airbrushed Ghostbusters logo or something. Or if not that, something that should have been plentiful and easy to buy, like a Dodge Caravan. Part of the charm of the original Ecto-1 was it’s ridiculousness. This new one is just trying way too hard.

I'll say this one is a wait till it comes on TNT on a Saturday afternoon and there's nothing else on for me.

I hope everybody who goes to see this movie enjoys it and gets their money’s worth. But, I will not be seeing it, not in a movie theater, not on a rental, not for free on cable when it eventually gets there, for the same reason I have not and will not ever watch the Karate Kid remake. They will not “reboot” my childhood!

Redbox.. Netflix.. Potato..Potahto.. I agree. It may be surprisingly good but not good enough to to go see in a theater.

I love Kate McKinnon, it seemed like she was barely shown in the trailer. I really hope this isn’t going to be a Melissa McCarthy showpiece. That would suck and blow.

Reheated leftovers is kind- reheated pizza is good. This is more like you made soup of the leftovers in the fridge, but forgot to cook it. So you have chicken and steak and vegetables doused with cold water.

I know! I mean okay, there are SOME reboots I like. The two recent Star Trek movies had enough talent force to be pretty decent, and I got a number of laughs out of Steve Martin’s Pink Panther movies...but like, I can’t remember even one recent reboot that I was like “oh hell yeah!” about.

Godzilla came very close, but it screwed up by giving the MUTOs like 3 times the screen time, and never a good shot of Godzilla either.

I’ll watch it for free once it’s out of the theaters.

I’ll probably enjoy it.

definitely not spending money on it.

Nope.

All the nopes.

The originals were great why the fuck remake them? I wont see it.

Just out of curiosity tho, why all women cast?

My biggest gripe is that this never needed to be redone. It feels like it’s being rebooted because they didn’t have any other ideas.

There was nothing in this trailer that made me want to see the movie. Modern comedians don’t know how to trust their material. They just keep talking, and don’t let the gag be funny for itself. The bit with Melissa McCarthy and the wig immediately made me think of this scene. The old gags are the best gags, and this one, with the brilliant Marty Feldman, is still the best.

It is, but sadly, like other Mel Brooks movies, he just doesn’t know how to end it. But it’s a brilliant cast, it’s well written, and by god, it’s just damned funny. Also, Teri Garr.

So many good, repeatable lines.

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Well, dear, are you ready?

Inga: Yes, Doctor.

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Elevate me.

Inga: Now? Right here?

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Yes, yes, raise the platform.

Inga: Oh. Ze platform. Oh, zat, yah, yah... yes.

Kate McKinnon might be the only thing good about this. She’s the only watchable cast member on SNL right now.

Why, oh why did Harold Ramis have to leave us?

i am so sick of that type of joke. IT IS EVERYWHERE IN EVERY TV SHOW AND MOVIE!!! It is not even funny anymore. feigning awkward keep talking cuz fake socially awkward. not the best title but i cant think of another.
